Why Inner Quest Music?

There are three things that make music what it is: melody, harmony, and rhythm.

Melody is an expression of aspiration. In modern music, because it is fashionable nowadays to proclaim that life is without meaning, there is a dearth of high aspiration, and therefore of beautiful or inspiring melodies.

Popular music has suffered less in this respect, since everyone has experienced such common aspirations as that for human love. One wonders, however, whether even such aspirations have not begun to dwindle to a mere sense of excitement. What modern popular music seems to express most of all is merely agitated emotion.

In Inner Quest Music, the melodies are simple and uplifting. They express soul aspiration and a desire for a more uplifted life in every aspect of man’s existence. In this music there is no attempt at sophistication for its own sake. We believe, rather, in the words of Jesus Christ, who said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me…for of such is the kingdom of God.”

Musical harmony should bring the listener a greater sense of inner harmony. What music seems to do nowadays, in its cacophony, is add to people’s nervous strain, and seems an almost inevitable accompaniment to modern man’s loss of spiritual faith.

The harmonies of Inner Quest Music express a subtle correspondence that enhances the melody itself.

Rhythm in modern popular music tends to be nervous. The rhythm in our music is often challenging, but not disorienting.

Inner Quest Music is not heavy on the downbeat, which would be suggestive of ego-affirmation and a declaration of self-importance. Instead, there is a vibration, not only in the words but in the music itself, of faith, harmony, upliftment, and self-expansion, which includes the spiritual needs and well-being of everyone.

And Lyrics

The lyrics provide positive, deep meaning, simply and often humorously expressed.

What’s in a Name?

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.

In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.
